Our Story
Genergy Australia was founded in 1995 by Robroy and Diann MacGregor with a simple vision: to build a business that genuinely put customers first.
After a successful career in the power generation industry, Robroy recognised the opportunity to create a company focused on delivering dependable backup power solutions with exceptional service. While Genergy initially specialised in the design and manufacture of custom-built generators, the business soon evolved into generator maintenance, repairs and emergency support—services that remain at the heart of the company today.
From the very beginning, Genergy was a family business in every sense of the word. Robroy and Diann’s three children grew up around generators, workshops and service vehicles, often spending school holidays travelling throughout regional Queensland alongside their father. Servicing generators at hospitals, supermarkets and other critical facilities, they learned the importance of preparation, hard work and attention to detail by helping manage stock, service equipment, complete reports and keep plant rooms clean and organised.
Those years on the road also shaped Genergy’s customer-first philosophy. Robroy believed strong relationships were just as important as technical expertise, taking the time to know every customer and earning their trust through reliability and genuine care. At the same time, Diann ensured the business operated with discipline behind the scenes, managing administration, finances and project delivery with meticulous attention to detail.
In 2008, after completing a Bachelor of Business and a Master of Professional Accounting, daughter Brooke MacGregor purchased Genergy Australia from her parents, continuing the family legacy while leading the business into its next chapter.
In 2010, Brooke’s husband, Simon, joined the business full-time. Together they have continued to build Genergy Australia into one of South East Queensland’s trusted generator maintenance specialists, supported by a highly skilled team that shares the same commitment to quality, reliability and customer service.
Today, Genergy Australia maintains more than 400 diesel generator systems across South East Queensland, providing preventative maintenance, repairs and 24/7 emergency breakdown support for hospitals, correctional centres, police stations, ambulance stations, councils and other critical infrastructure.
Although the business has grown considerably since 1995, it remains proudly family owned and operated. The values established by Robroy and Diann over three decades ago continue to guide every decision—taking pride in the work, paying attention to the details, building lasting customer relationships and always doing the right thing.
